5 Crucial Questions To Ask Your Roofing Contractor

5 Crucial Questions To Ask Your Roofing Contractor

Roofing contractors are a dime a dozen. But what if you're looking for someone who can do more than put on a new roof? What if you want to find the right contractor to help you avoid problems in the future?

That's where we come in. We've talked to hundreds of people who have hired contractors in the past, and we've learned that most of them wish they would have asked one or two more questions before signing their contract. So, here are five crucial questions to ask your roofing contractor:

1. What is your experience level?

A good roofing contractor will be able to tell you how many years they've been doing this work and what kind of jobs they have done before. If they have no experience or don't know how long they have been doing it, then it might be time to look elsewhere!

Not all roofing contractors are created equal. You want someone who knows how to do the job right and has had plenty of experience doing it. Look for a contractor who has been in business for at least three years and preferably longer than that. Do they have any reviews online? If so, see what others have said about them and how long they've been doing business as well as how many projects they've completed successfully over time.

2. Do you provide warranties?

A good contractor should offer some sort of warranty with their service—it's just common sense! If they don't offer any kind of warranty at all, then there's no guarantee that anything will be fixed if something goes wrong down the road. You also want someone who will stand behind their work if anything goes wrong down the road after installation is complete. A good warranty will include several years of service calls for minor issues like cleaning gutters or re-sealing the seams around doors or windows after installation is complete.

Your new roof will likely last for many years, but there’s always a chance that something could go wrong. For example, if there is an issue with your gutters or flashing around your chimney, this could cause leaks in areas where no one would expect them to occur. You need to know how the company handles problems like this so that you know what options are available if something does go wrong.

3. What Are Your References?

This is an extremely important question to ask, especially if you're looking at a company that hasn't been around long enough to have established a solid reputation in the industry. It's okay if they don't have any references right now; they should be able to provide them when they get more business and gain experience doing this kind of work. In fact, if they can provide references from other customers that have used their services in the past, it gives you confidence that they know what they're doing and can do quality work for you too!

4. How long will it take?

It's important that you know how much time the job will take before you hire anyone for the job. This way, you won't have any surprises when it comes time for payment. The contractor should be able to give you an estimate based on their past experience performing similar jobs in similar areas with similar types of materials. They should also be able to provide you with options for scheduling around other major home repairs or vacations in order to keep costs low while minimizing inconvenience to yourself and your family members while they work on your home's roofing system.

5. What materials do you use for the roof?

If you’re looking to replace your roof, you need to make sure that the contractor you hire is using quality materials. This means that you should ask about the brand of shingles or other materials being used. A good contractor will be familiar with all of the different brands and their products, and they should be able to tell you what sort of warranty they offer. If a contractor is hesitant to give this information, then it may be time to move on to another company.
